At the end of the 19th century, Mr Claude FRAYSSE, who was a chemical engineer established near Geneva a company manufacturing chemicals for the fragrance industry. He collaborated with Philippe CHUITT (Firmenich) and Mr GIVAUDAN on the development of ionones and methyl ionones. Then, he created different perfumes for the WEIL family, such as Zibeline (1928), Chinchilla Royal (1928), Hermine (1931) and Une Fleur (1931). Claude had four children, who followed his path in the fragrance world :
• Jacqueline, who works with him for WEIL,
• André, in house perfumer of LANVIN, co-author of the famous Arpège of LANVIN.
• Hubert and Georges, who founded Synarome.

The 20th century saw the birth and flourishing of the great names in perfumery, and from this French know-how emerged iconic fragrances with worldwide success. Hubert and Georges founded Synarome in 1926 and developed many specialties in Asnières (near Paris), where most of the fragrance houses were located. Among these specialties are some of the most famous natural raw material substitutes: Ambrarome, Animalis or Muscarome. This created the stepping stones to become an iconic company in the fragrance industry.

IN 1974, A NEW FACTORY IN THE COSMETIC VALLEY

Based in Chartres, in the heart of the Cosmetic Valley, the new factory allowed for the production of numerous chemicals and specialties used by the most well-known perfumers.

A NEW GENERATION OF FRAYSSE

SYNAROME activity continued with Hubert’s children:
• Monique, CEO, R&D Manager and Perfumer
• Jacques, Senior Perfumer and Marketing
• Françoise, Administrative Officer and Purchasing
• Denis, Technical Manager
The family remains as one of the biggest names in French and international perfumery.

MONIQUE FRAYSSE, A FIGURE OF THE FRAGRANCE INDUSTRY

Mrs FRAYSSE was a distinguished woman in the fragrance industry because of her knowledge in chemistry. She worked a great deal for the French perfumery and the role of women in this industry. Thanks to her dedication to the fragrance industry, she had the honor of being named «Chevalier dans l’Ordre National du Mérite “ in the 1970s. Monique remained at led of the company until the 2000s.

JUNE 2017, A FRESH NEW SYNTHESIS WORKSHOP

Synarome rebuilt the whole synthesis and Ambrarome units optimizing its production and using state-of-the-art equipment.

JUNE 2021, SYNAROME HAS JOINED SOZIO

Synarome strengthens Sozio’s perfumery ingredient business by bringing organic synthesis, perfumery specialties and distillation for the fragrance industry. Sozio is reconnecting with its historical roots, the creation and manufacturing of natural perfumery ingredients which have been at the center of the company for over 200 years.
